CMIT Solutions is an IT services franchise with more than 200 locally owned territories across the U.S. Every owner needs a web presence that wins local business; the brand needs all of it to look and behave like one company. During my agency years, I built the WordPress multisite network that carried both: the corporate site and the local territory sites, on a single platform.
Before consolidation, the math worked against everyone. A franchise brand with hundreds of territories can’t hand each owner a standalone WordPress install. You get design drift, a plugin zoo, and every brand update multiplied by the number of locations. But the owners still need real local pages: their name, their service area, their phone number ranking in their market.
The answer was one WordPress multisite network. The corporate site and every territory site run on the same codebase, with one custom theme, a shared plugin stack, and a single place to ship changes. Each territory gets its own site on the network with structured fields for the things that legitimately vary: the owner, the service area, local contact details, local content.
The engineering decisions were about control with flexibility in the right places. Templates pull owner data into consistent layouts so a territory site can’t go off-brand, and network-level roles let owners edit their own content without touching design or plugins. Updates happen once, at the network level, and every location inherits them.
The result: launching a new territory site became a provisioning task instead of a web project, and a brand refresh meant one deployment instead of hundreds. This was agency-era work, and the site has since changed hands, but it’s the shape of network I still build and run today for multi-location brands.
